The Setlist says Believe Again

So the setlist is same as last tour with the addition of one H&E song. Not quite what was promised or at least hinted it. But fortunate for those in attendance?

The one song, is "Believe Again." Are they asking us to believe in YES as a band again?

I am happy for those who are enjoying the new album. I was thinking some of it would be ok played at the grocery store.

I'm pretty sure _Fragile_ was never played in its entirety on the last
tour. (You're talking about the previous '3 album tour' right?)

Over the weekend, they played a couple of smaller shows in New York
State before heading to NYC. At one of them, they played "The Game" &
"Light Of The Ages" instead of "Believe Again". So they might be
rotating new songs in and out of the setlist. Can't tell yet.

Yes, the previous 3 album tour. I stand corrected. I'm slogging through Subway Walls hoping to enjoy it. Steve's guitar, is that really him? sounds like Kenny G on guitar. And Alan and Chris are doing the same little rhythm thing they do together again. OH and then Jon D starts to sing and it's just so ... ok? ok at best ...

at 4:15 in, my hopes go up...but then the organ solo is well...sorry Kenny G on the organ?

but I can see why some of the fans like it...it's longer. There are solos. It at least seems likes they are trying in parts of the tune. But it just doesn't take off for me.

If this music showed up on the Prog CD and I'd never heard of YES, I don't think I could give it more than a couple of listens.

But, I will say after listening to the music again, they do seem to be trying. And that is the saddest part. Davison did not bring enough of a muse, enough song-writing chops, a soaring or interesting voice, to make up for the lack of song-writing from Chris or Steve. Downes is a best filler. Alan is getting old for a drummer and it shows. He's not even forward in the mix.

The muddled mess is not the worst thing ever. But honestly, if YES did not have a history, a fan base, would anyone in the music world buy this?

I think not. and it shows in that they are not featuring the album anymore than the old YES featured Open Your Eyes much on that tour. Or KTA...

When they toured for Magnification and the Ladder, they played a chunk of each album.

How could they now? People would fall asleep or walk out.

I wish them all the best personally, but wish YES had ended after the Mag tour.

They did play five or six Ladder songs which is a good chunk. But when they
toured Magnification, other than the orchestral intro, they were only doing
"Don't Go" and "In The Presence Of" until the last half of the European leg
where they added "Magnification". Not really a big chunk. (Though the
latter two lasted into the 2002/2003 tours with Wakeman).

They also added "Time Is Time" later, when they were doing that tour
featured on _Songs From Tsongas_.

Which is really what they should've been doing all along, SK is a much better opening song, by the time they actually get to the title track the mix is together & they're nicely warmed up for it. The two versions I've heard from the first couple of shows have been played with a faster tempo & lot more energy than last tour where they opened with it. And tight! Unusual in that the first half dozen shows have been historically known as "rehearsal" shows. Looking forward to seeing them next month. :)

Nope. Tsongas was 2004. All the other Magnification material had been
dropped by them. They tried to play stuff from pretty much every era during
the 1st leg of the 35th Anniversary tour. "Soon" was dropped by the Tsongas
show but before that they were playing a track from every album except
Tormato (DKTW was played in 2002/2003), Drama, Union, Talk, Keys 1, OYE and
The Ladder (though Nine Voices was played once with a children's choir at
the Chicago area show).

DKTW was excellent on that tour! Enjoyed it ...

Actually it was "To Ascend" not "Light of the Ages".

Preordered the CD today from Amazon. Have to admit I like "Believe Again" a lot as well as most of the other songs.
