Post by y***@hotmail.comI was at the show in San Diego last night, I thought they were terrific, and I can't recall a show where they had so much visible *fun* onstage (except Howe, who was in full grump mode last night lol, his playing was fine though), definitely be tuning in to the live stream tonight :)
As there have been accusations of too much negativity around here, I will try to stick to the high points. Um....someone want to help me out here?
I will say that I think I enjoyed the two new pieces the most. Only in that they sounded like a band attempting to be Yes-like, and not a bad cover band butchering classic Yes material. But rather than elevating the new material, they're bringing the old stuff down to that level. At least the inclusion of the entire Fragile album effectively eliminated the self-indulgent solo spots. "Five Per Cent for Nothing" sans drums was an interesting choice.
I wonder if they've considered getting a keyboardist with some sense of rhythm. And one that doesn't look like an ER technician. Maybe he's just been spending too much time working on his vocals. And I finally realized who the singer reminds me of...the gay guy from Glee. Let me rephrase that...the REALLY gay guy from Glee, that would rather be a girl. They both have talent, and both make me equally uncomfortable. As Phoebe tells Chris Isaak on Friends, "you might want to pick a more masculine note".
Dan "Hey, I sat through the whole thing, isn't that enough?" C
