i've got a couple questions about the sound quality?
even on the remastered version the hiss is almost deafening. what
generation tape did they remaster? and who is genarro rippo, why does it
say "tapes by genarro rippo"? i dont remember that being mentioned on
the lp or the pre-remastered cd version. maybe no-one knows where the
original tape is? and this is an example of the dis-organisation of yes?
does anyone know? or have a better guess?
I know it has been 18 years since this conversation started, but to answer the Genarro Rippo question, he is absolutely a real person. The first time I met him he was a road manager for a band that opened for Elvis Costello in February, 1978. I can't recall the name of the band. He came to town several times after that, always as a road manager for a band.I'm sure he also did sidework in the studio to avoid always being on the road.

I don't know if he's still around, but he was a great guy.
