A Yes mystery...

This is a question for all Yes record collectors out there.
I have collected Yes records for many years now and during this time I have
come across many references to two British singles which are not in my
collection. These are "Looking Around / Everydays" (released October '69 on
Atlantic 584 298; possibly demo versions only), and "Time and a Word / The
Prophet" (released March '70 on Atlantic 584 323).
Although these 7"s are both mentioned in Record Collector magazine articles
(issue numbers 98 and 169), I do not believe that either single exists.
This may seem strange, but there is evidence to support my view. The
discography in Dan Hedges' official biography of the band does not mention
either record and the sleeve notes of the Yesterdays album also does not
mention them. This is despite the fact that it contains the reputed A-sides
of both singles.
There is also a precedent for a British single being withdrawn just before
its planned release. Collectors will be familiar with the "Your Move / Life
Seeker" 45 (Atlantic 2814-003) which was to have been the British single
from The Yes Album, but now only exists as a promo.
The other British singles from this period, "Sweetness / Something's
Coming" (Atlantic 584 280) and "Sweet Dreams / Dear Father" (Atlantic 2091
004), are both relatively common but during the time I have collected Yes
records, I have never seen either of these "mystery" singles offered for
sale. I find this very unusual because if they had been released, they
would probably have sold in similar quantities to "Sweetness" and "Sweet
Dreams".
Of course, I would be delighted to be proved wrong; better still, does
anyone have a copy of either record for sale?!
Thanks for listening.

Hi Richard,
i'm not sure about looking around single, but time and a word does however exist.
i know this as i have a copy.
the most important side of the above is side a (time and a word) which is an edit and you can hear the very clever edit part within the song from that of the lp version.
Of course the b side edit is now covered by an inclusion of the same on the remastered cd of the time and a word cd album.
As a yes fan myself i would not sell my copy as its impossible to find as you will probably appreciate however i copied the track to cd and only play that so to keep my single in perfect condition.
My single is not scratched and one could forgive it for being brand new as it is imaculate to look at, and plays similar, so who ever had it previously either never played it or looked after it, or indeed did as i did and recorded it.
should i be able to help out with a cd of the track for your collection let me know.
sadly i do not think you will get a copy of the single very easely, it took me forever to find and came about quit flukey.
best wishes
carl

A response to an nearly 17-year-old post...is this some kind of record?
