Made my Friday night.
Nice mix of moods in the song, and the video is brilliant,
they work together very well.
Thanks for the link.
Gotta ask...mind sharing more about your role in this?
Are you on other tunes on the CD?

Thank you Steve. I only wrote the chorus melody & lyric ("It's you,
it's love, all I need, all I need"). The original instrumental demo
was sent to me by my lifelong friend Michael Allison who records under
the name of Darshan Ambient. He is a big fan of Yes & Genesis and
records ambient music of his own sort of like Eno with a mellow groove
vibe. I have sent his music to Jon Anderson and Jon enjoys it a lot...
hopefully one day they will do something together, or possibly finish
a song that was initially played around with called "Make Love Not
War."

But back to this song, "It's You". On November 9, 2009, I was the
victim of downsizing and lost my job of 5 years organizing
entertainment for a major casino. My heart was heavy coming home and
was thinking about how I was going to tell my wife. Michael sent me
his demo and I listened to it when I got home and the track really hit
me hard. I came up with words and melody and spoke to Michael and from
there he began to develop the idea into what it is now.

In the video I added the scene capture from the video of the Peter
Gabriel/Kate Bush duet "Don't Give Up", relating to the
disappointment, but counting on the love.

If you have a chance, please listen to the samples you can find on
Amazon or itunes of the Darshan Ambient album "A Day Within Days". I
think you will like the rest of it, though it is all instrumental
other than "It's You". Michael sings beautifully and one other track
he has on itunes with his vocal is "Man In The Window." Michael has
been working on a "Genesis Project" that I suggested. The album is a
collection of ambient reworkings of classic Genesis, heavily Gabriel
era. I suggest you find Darshan Ambient on Facebook and "friend" him.
He loads a lot of music there including the Genesis tracks he's
working on. You may also find a fantastic video of "The Musical Box"
on YouTube, just search _ Musical Box Darshan Ambient _ or when I get
a chance I will post it here.

glad to send you a couple things, including a song Jon A, Roine Stolt
(Flower Kings) and myself did together.

it's likely quite good...with the possible exception of Anderson's
vox...because "reportedly" no matter what Jon Anderson says, his voice
has not recovered yet.

money yet, so..." Allen

Nic,

I realize it's been a few years since you posted this info about your work with Michael Allison, but I want to thank you--regardless of the time lag--that I appreciated the insight into the song's origins.

I only recently purchased the albums "A Day Within Days" and "Providence" (because I have some of his other works), and they've been my mainstay audio tracks for several months now. I'd had some trouble deciphering the repeated line in the tag end of refrain, so I did a web search. I came up dry on all the lyrics sites, so I was thankful you included the words here. Now I don't have to mumble through it; I can confidently sing it out!

Hope your fortunes turned around in short order and you pressed onward.
Bless,
TJW

Sounds good Nic, really like the music & the video fits real nice with
it, although I don't care much for the singers voice (reminds me of
the guy from Hootie, wish it didn't lol)
Good job :)
